ÖLÇSAN participated in the “Cyber Security in the Marine Area: Ship Solution Proposals” workshop held on June 13, 2023 at ITU Maritime Faculty Tuzla Campus with the cooperation of ITU Maritime Security and Cyber Threats Research Laboratory and ITU Turkish Straits Maritime Application and Research Center. The aim of the workshop is to create situational awareness and enable stakeholders to come together and discuss the measures.
The workshop started with ITU Maritime Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Arslan’s opening speech, and ITU Maritime Faculty CYBERMARSEC LAB.
Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Pelin Bolat made a presentation about the purpose of establishment of the Laboratory and future solution proposals. ITU Vice Rector Prof.Dr. Ali Deniz, on the other hand, talked about the university’s efforts and support for cyber security. Burak Sondal, General Manager of ÖLÇSAN, firstly conveys technological solution proposals for maritime sector cyber attacks; On the other hand, ÖLÇSAN provided detailed information about the subject with the live attack demo. ITU Maritime Faculty Research Assistant Dr. Gizem Kayişoğlu made a presentation on Cyber Incidents in the Maritime Sector and an Optimization Tool for Cyber Risk Management. The workshop continued with the panel titled “Marine Cyber Security and Solution Suggestions”. Istanbul Bilgi University Instructor In the panel moderated by its member Tayfun Acarer, they discussed the issue from different perspectives. The workshop ended with the awarding of plaques to the speakers and participants who contributed to the event.
After the workshop, ITU Maritime Faculty and ÖLÇSAN will continue their studies for joint training and certificate programs to be held in the CYBERMARSEC Laboratory.
